Photo Essay: Holi Moli, it’s San Domenico Panthers & the colors again

San Domenico teachers and students start celebrating Holi

Holi is an annual Hindu festival that celebrates colors, love, unity, start of spring, new beginnings and rebirths. In Hinduism, Holi also celebrates the divine love of Radha and Krishna. In the stated culture, Holi is a way to commemorate good over evil as it observes the victory of Vishnu as Narsasimha over Hiranyakashipu.

This year students at San Domenico School had a memorable afternoon on Friday, March 27, celebrating Holi, throwing colorful powders at each other, running to stay clear, and sharing loud laughters when catching and making one another soaked in colors. San Domenico as an international and diverse boarding school has done an outstanding job in honoring multiculturalism. The Holi event was organized by the Multicultural Club (MC) and leaders including Aarya Chowdhry, Sharifa Hunarwar and Jeevan Raghupathy. The MC club and the kitchen staff had also planned an Indian lunch for the Panthers serving delicious Paneer Tikka Masala, Malpuas, and Basmati Rice.

Holi celebration this year started with an opening reflection by Mirza Khan, followed by an introduction of Holi presented by Jeevan Raghupathy, a Bengali song directed by Natalie John and sang by Middle School Chorus team, a reflection on importance of transcending by Sharifa Hunarwar and a superb dance by Middle School dancer directed by Alyssa Canhran, San Domenico’s dance instructor. The deeper meaning of Holi, which is transcending boundaries, challenging one’s eternal beliefs and opening up to new things courageously was communicated by Aarya Chowdhry. The assembly ended with tons of colored powders in the sky in front of the gym.
